DFCC Vardhana Bank expands board

Lakshman Silva and Lalit de S. Wijeyeratne appointed

DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB), the everyday banking unit of DFCC Bank, announced that it has appointed Mr. L.H.A. Lakshman Silva and Mr. Lalit N. de Silva Wijeyeratne to its Board of Directors. Mr. Silva brings with him extensive expertise in development and commercial banking while Mr. Wijeyeratne adds on expertise in financial and general management.

Mr. Silva and Mr. Wijeyeratne join the DVB board which now comprises eight members. As such, it plays a critical role in setting the organization's agenda as well as establishing legislative issues and priorities.

Mr. Lakshman Silva is the Senior Vice President of DFCC Bank Ltd and also the Chief Operating Officer of DFCC Vardhana Bank. He was previously the Vice President - Corporate Banking Division of DFCC Bank Ltd and also served as Manager/Vice President - Colombo Office, Kurunegala and Matara branches. Mr. Silva has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenapura and a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) from the University of Kelaniya. Mr. Silva possesses a licentiate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and an Associate in Development Bank Management. Mr. Silva is also an active member of the banking industry and was the President of the Association of Professional Bankers of Sri Lanka (2007) and also won the General Manager’s Award for the Best Employee of the Year, DFCC Bank Ltd (2007).

Mr. Lalit de S. Wijeyeratne is currently a Director of several listed and unlisted companies. He brings along with him a wealth of experience, being previously the Group Finance Director of the Richard Pieris Group, Group Financial Controller / Company Sectary and Director of several subsidiaries of Aitken Spence Holdings and the Head of Accounting of Zambia Consolidate Copper Mines Ltd, Zambia. Mr. Wijeyeratne is a Fellow of the Institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka and possesses experience in Financial and General Management.

DFCC Vardhana Bank’s SL AA- national rating was recently affirmed by Fitch Ratings for implied long term unsecured debt; denoting very low expectation of credit risk. DVB has been associated with a stream of significant financial innovations. It continues to thrive on the winds of change, seizing opportunities as they come and making it possible for their customers to reach new horizons through widened accessibility.
