DFCC Vardhana Bank launches “Vardhana MBanker” A practical mobile banking service

Thursday, March 25, 2010, Colombo: DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB), the everyday banking unit of the pioneer development bank, DFCC Bank launched “Vardhana MBanker”, taking yet another smart move towards improving their customers’ experience of DVB products and services. Vardhana MBanker, a doorstep mobile banking service now makes banking activities with DFCC Vardhana Bank even easier.

With the use of mobile terminals, DVB banking executives will now visit customers in order to carry out basic banking activities, with a view to provide banking inclusions hitherto consumers especially in rural areas who had been deprived of modern banking facilities.    

“Vardhana MBanker is an innovative service we are offering our customers. Now, with the launch of Vardhana MBanker, not only are we bringing our services to their doorstep, but we are also embracing the advent of technology and improving our service offering along with it. DFCC Vardhana Bank has always been intent on constant improvement, and the introduction of this new mobile banking service is proof of just that,” said Mr. Lakshman Silva, Chief Executive Officer, DFCC Vardhana Bank.

The deployment of conventional technology in order to extend the bank’s reach even further was made possible by Synapsys Ltd, a subsidiary of the DFCC Bank. The Vardhana MBanker mobile banking solution involves the use of handheld mobile computer units which can be used at any remote location via the use of standard communications technology such as GPRS and 3G.

DFCC’s commitment towards bringing the most innovative in product and service offering to its customers has always been a top priority. This is evident in such initiatives such as DVB’s tie-up with Sri Lanka Posts to establish a postal-unit network as well as enhancing the DVB ATM network to 225 ATM’s partnering with Sampath Bank  to ensure a better reach across the island. “Vardhana  MBanker” is also one such initiative. The initial phasing out of the Vardhana MBanker service will be offered in selected areas with the most common banking functions. In time, DVB will add other services such as loan origination, remittances and collections through “Vardhana MBanker”.
